“It’s a Family Reunion” tote bag series
A concept that represents the gathering of black folks in the summer time surround by joy and most importantly good food. Our food plays a major role in our culture, it’s an unspoken language that evokes a sense of community that traces back to our roots. In this series, I depict traditional meals from my childhood, from visiting my Grandma Faye in Louisiana to my upbringing in the midwest, Chicago. My intention is to reintroduce “black people food” as a way to celebrate memory and our history.
